My grandma hasn’t been well lately. Just in the last few months, she lost her son, hurt her shoulder and was hospitalized for a week. Yesterday, I invited her for lunch and ordered Lei Cha (thunder tea rice), which is not only good for her health, but also very delicious. She hadn’t eaten Lei Cha in many years and was happy with her surprise lunch! Later in the day, I initiated a baking session which made her very happy and excited, as this is only the second time she has ever baked anything. While waiting for the cookies to cool, I noticed her feet were very dry and her skin was peeling. I applied and massaged lotion onto her feet for her, and she was very shy but I insisted. I want to give back to my grandma, for her kindness and love for me from when I was born. Back when I was in primary school, my grandma tied my hair for me while I ate breakfast, packed my water bottle and snacks into my bag, held my hand to the school bus at 6.30 in the morning (at times with me crying loudly…) and waited after school to take me home and feed me French fries and Ribena. My grandma took the best care of me. I guess what I really want to express is that I love my grandma and I just hope she knows that she means the world to me and I would not be who I am today without her presence in my life.
